Please give your son's name, class and a reason for his absence.

Requests for absence from school for any reason other than sickness must be given in writing to the Headmaster at least one week prior to the event. When prolonged leave is undertaken, it is suggested that boys keep a diary of their experiences to share with classmates and teachers upon their return.

School Hours
Medbury School is open between the hours of 8:00am and 5.00pm. Day boys are not expected to be in the school grounds outside these hours unless a specific arrangement has been made with the Headmaster.

Prep
Prep is compulsory four days a week with twenty minutes of recreational reading set for Friday nights. The following are guidelines for the time boys are expected to spend on their prep:

Years 0 to 2 10 – 30 minutes
Years 3 to 4 20 – 40 minutes
Years 5 to 6 40 – 60 minutes
Years 7 to 8 70 minutes

All of these include a 10-15 minute period of reading.

Church Services
Services are usually held at St. Barnabas Church, Fendalton Road, at 9.00am on a Sunday morning. However, as St. Barnabas Church has been damaged in the earthquakes, services are currently being held in The Medbury Centre. Boys are expected to be there by 8.45am. Each boy can expect to attend one or two services a term on Sundays, in additional to special services at Easter and Christmas. Weekly services are planned according to themes, (such as the Musicians' Service), or for year groups.

The correct dress for services is heavy grey shorts, long sleeved white shirt and tie, blazer, black shoes and Medbury regulation socks.
