Newletters and "In the Next Week"
The Headmaster prepares a weekly “In the Next
Week…” bulletin that advises of current
activities. A regular newsletter is also prepared
which reviews and previews school events and provides
information and details of other school events. These
are emailed home, usually on a Monday, and a copy is available from the homepage.
The Medbury Diary
Each boy is issued with a diary at the beginning of
the year in which he records appropriate dates and
his prep. The diary may also be used for messages
from home to school and vice versa.

Requests for Information and
Appointments with Staff
There will be occasions when you will need to telephone
members of staff or make an appointment to meet with
them at school.

variety of school routines and events. Please use

Your first avenue of communication about your son’s
education is his classroom teacher. As calls cannot
be put through to teachers during class time, please
leave your call back details with the school secretary.

Teachers are available to discuss matters concerned
academic or social progress both before and after
school by appointment. Specialist staff are also available
for interviews. The school secretary can arrange such
appointments.
All enquiries about the physical education and sporting
programmes should be addressed to the Director of
Sport, Mr Glen Taylor, through the school office.
The Deputy Headmaster, Mr Bruce Blair, will directly handle any serious
disciplinary concerns.
Please telephone the school office on (03) 351 6169 for an appointment.
Reporting and Interviews
Parents are invited to a class barbeque in the first
month of the year to meet their son’s teacher,
hear how the classroom programme will be run, ask
any relevant questions and meet the parents of their
son’s classmates.
Early in the first term, parents are invited to attend
interviews to discuss initial progress and set goals
for the rest of the year. Interviews are held again
in Term 2, and this time the boys are asked to attend
so that a three-way exchange of information may be
held.
Before all interviews an ‘assessment of needs’
sheet is sent home. On this sheet parents, boys, and
the class teacher outline points for discussion. Effort
cards are sent out twice a term.
Written reports are sent home twice during the year;
on the last day of Term 2 and on the last day of the
school year.

Travel Consent Form (pdf)
During the course of your son’s education at
Medbury, he will be required to visit places of interest
outside the school grounds as part of the school curriculum.
Buses are hired or sometimes parent vehicles are required.
At the beginning of their association with Medbury,
parents or guardians are asked to compete a “travel
consent” form giving the school permission to
transport its students in private cars or hired buses.
All class trips and events will be mentioned in the
newsletters or in notices from the teacher. Any costs
involved will be charged to accounts unless parents
specify otherwise.
Separate written permission is required for school
camps and information will be sort by class teachers.
