| Admission
Boys are accepted into Medbury School at any level between
Year One and Year Eight at the discretion of the Headmaster.
It is the belief of the Trust Board that the aims
of Medbury School as set out in the mission statement
and prospectus, are best served by a balanced school
whose boarding and day-pupils represent a wide range
of abilities. The Trustees recognise that Medbury
School’s resources have limits and although
we endeavour to take pupils from a wide range of abilities,
our ability to do so will or may be limited by the
School’s resources available to provide for
the needs of all pupils.
Medbury School Enrolment Policy
- The Enrolment Policy of Medbury School endeavours to comply with the Human Rights Act, section 57.
- The policy of the Trust Board is that the facilities of Medbury School should be utilised as fully as possible. This policy is best achieved by accommodating the number of boys that utilise the resources without putting undue pressure on those resources thus affecting the quality of the education expected by the school's clients.
- There will be one class from the Reception level to Year 4. There will be two Year 5 and 6 classes and three Year 7 and 8 classes.
- Class sizes should not exceed; 12 boys in Reception, 18 boys in Years One and Two, 23 boys in Years 3, 4 and 5 and 25 boys in Years 6 to 8, except in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the Trust Board.
- The School may accept a limited number of foreign fee-paying students and the school is a signatory of the Code of Practice applicable to those students.
- All international students must either board at school or live with their parents. The actual Enrolment Policy for International Students is outlined in a seperate policy.

- If the roll is likely to exceed 340 the Headmaster must consult the Trust Board.
- The Headmaster will interview all prospective pupils with their parents or caregivers and a copy of the most recent school report must be provided. In the case where the student is unable to attend the interview prior to acceptance, i.e. when the family is living overseas, acceptance to Medbury will be given subject to an interview on arrival in the country.
- In determining whether an applicant is accepted for a place at Medbury School the following matters, together with any other matters the Headmaster determines relevant in accordance with the Trust Board policy, will be taken into consideration:
- The availability of a place.
- The previous academic achievements and potential academic abilities of the applicant.
- The cultural and sporting abilities and potential academic abilities of the applicant.
- The personal qualities of the applicant.
- Any personal or family connections the applicant's family may have with Medbury School including, but not limited to, whether the applicant is the son or brother of an Old Boy or has a brother at Medbury School. Siblings and sons of Old Boys have priority on acceptance provided the formal enrolment process has been completed and acceptance given by the 31st March of the year before they wish to start.
- Whether the applicant wishes to board.
In line with a Board mandate that Boarding is a critical aspect of Medbury School life:
- 41 will be the maximum number of full time boarders in the Boarding House. Two boys may also be casually boarding at any one time.
