Sport
Sport is an important part of Medbury life and all boys are encouraged to play sport at a level they enjoy. Boys are taught to accept the rules of the sport as laid down by the umpire or referee. It is important that when boys finish a match they know they have done their best for their team and themselves.
In addition to the set classes of physical education each week, Medbury fields teams in cricket, tennis, rugby, soccer, and hockey which are coached by teaching staff and practice regularly for the weekly local competitions. Other activities such as basketball, equestrian sport, golf, touch rugby, water polo, and ice hockey are optional extras and their availability varies from year to year according to demand.
Medbury has a modern gymnasium facility with a climbing boulder wall, a heated pool, operates two cricket pitches and three astro turf tennis courts in summer, and a rugby field, a mini soccer field in winter with hockey playing on the astroturf.
Inter-house competitions ready the boys for regional inter-school events such as athletics, triathlon and swimming, and the annual sports competitions with other independent primary schools are much looked forward to fixtures on the school calendar. Medbury also organises sporting trips away, hosts other schools for sport exchanges, and invites professional athletes and sports stars to the School to meet and talk with the boys.
