Junior School Team


Pip Andrews - Year 3 Teacher, Assistant Principal & Junior School Team Leader

Pip has been teaching at Medbury since 2013. She taught at Westburn School before heading to the UK on her OE. While in London, Pip taught at The Roche School, a small privately owned Prep School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from the University of Otago, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching from the New Zealand Graduate School of Education.


Sue Taylor - Year 3 Teacher

Sue has a Diploma of Teaching from Auckland Teachers College and has been teaching for over 20 years in a variety of roles and year levels. Prior to joining Medbury, she taught at Selwyn House School for seven years, where she was Director of Sport and Physical Education. Sue loves all sport, and is a qualified swim instructor and level 2 football coach. Sue and Glen have four children and love spending time in the outdoors.


Liz O'Connell - Year 3 Teacher

Liz has been teaching for over 15 years and during this time has taught in New Zealand and abroad in the UK, China and Hong Kong. Her last teaching position in New Zealand was at Scots College Preparatory School in Wellington. She holds a Bachelor of Education and Diploma in Teaching from Massey University and joined Medbury in 2016.


Jane McGarry - Year 2 Teacher

Jane has been teaching at Medbury since 2014. She has taught at Cathedral Grammar and Columba College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Teaching from Otago University.


Karen Mahon - Year 1 Teacher

Karen has 13 years teaching experience, teaching in a range of Year levels, including Senior Management experience. She has been teaching Year 1 at Medbury School since 2014 and has an interest in transitioning boys into their early years of learning. Karen holds a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning from Canterbury University and Christchurch College of Education.


Georgie Hewson - Year 1 Teacher

Georgie joined Medbury School in 2017, having completed a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning through the University of Canterbury.  Prior to that, she worked as an Occupational Therapist & Community Mentall Health worker at Timaru Hospital, as she also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.


Charlotte Henderson - Year 1 Teacher and Transition To School Programme Leader - On Maternity Leave

Charlotte has been teaching at Medbury since the beginning of 2014. She has a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning from Canterbury University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
